Monica Chavez-Silva to Receive Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Award
天美传媒 College Vice President for Community Engagement and Strategic Planning Monica Chavez-Silva has been selected to receive a 2026 Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Award in recognition of her outstanding commitment to volunteer service in Iowa.
Chavez-Silva, said, 鈥淗aving the opportunity to serve with Volunteer Iowa has been such a privilege. This is an organization that works behind the scenes to provide resources and support to Iowa's nonprofit organizations and their volunteers and the Volunteer Iowa staff go above and beyond to make this work possible. Because of Volunteer Iowa, I've been able to see firsthand how volunteers across the state uplift communities and make a difference in people's lives every day. It's an inspiration to see what's possible when dedicated people work together to get something done.鈥
The award, presented through Volunteer Iowa on behalf of the Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Awards Committee, honors individuals who have dedicated their time and talents to meeting community needs and strengthening communities across the state.
Chavez-Silva was nominated by Adam Lounsbury of Volunteer Iowa and will be recognized during the 2026 Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Awards Ceremony on July 14 at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center.
The Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Awards celebrate Iowans whose service and leadership have made a meaningful impact in their communities. Chavez-Silva鈥檚 recognition reflects her longstanding commitment to community engagement, collaboration, and service throughout Iowa.
